Introducing improved KPI Reports

changelog.jpg

View demo →

We have made significant improvements to the KPI Reports app.

With the improved KPI Reports app, you can now gain deeper insight into your IoT projects. You can easily track usage, monitor costs associated with deployment, and analyze device behavior.

Compare data over time

KPI reports now include historical data. This feature allows you to compare data over time and perform deeper data analysis. Build a data set based on data consumption, SMS, invoices, and SIM inventory.

Simplify data interpretation with new visualizations

We’ve also made it easier to understand your data by introducing new types of visualizations. These visualizations include tables, lists, charts, graphs, and more. This makes it easier for you to understand complex data sets and make informed decisions.

Share KPI Reports with the right people

You can now share KPI reports via URL. You no longer need to log in to the Terminal to access the content. Simply share the report with anyone who needs access, and they can view it without additional credentials.

Moreover, you can download specific charts as images (png files) in case you want to share the individual chart with somebody in, for instance, Slack or Teams. All data can also be downloaded as an Excel file for offline analysis if that’s your preferred way

Here are some examples of reports you can set up to optimize your deployments or get a better overview.

  • At the beginning of the project, you can track how SIMs come online by monitoring the first data session or completing connectivity testing at the end of the production line.
  • During deployment, you can monitor data consumption to determine if data usage is meeting expectations.
  • You can analyze the cost of different data packages to optimize costs.

Improvements and fixes

  • We have reduced the loading time of the SIM slide-over. ICCID, EID, IMSI, and MSISDN-based searches in the SIMs view are lightning-fast.
  • You can now create new automated workflows with SMS limit-related triggers.
  • We fixed a bug where prices were sometimes displayed as € 0 due to a rounding error. Now all numbers with up to 4 digits after the decimal point are displayed (e.g., 0,0005€ per MB).

Keep track of your SIM orders on 1oT Terminal

SIM orders cover.png

As the first update of 2023, we introduced the SIM orders view on 1oT Terminal. Meaning, now all of your previous SIM orders are visible on your company invoices page.

The SIM orders view shows a variety of details about the order:

  • Shipping date
  • Type of SIM ordered (eUICC or UICC)
  • SIM form factor
  • Quantity of SIMs

Additionally, you are able to search for a specific SIM order by its order ID and export orders either one-by-one or in bulk if needed.

Fixes and improvements

  • Some security features, such as IP whitelisting and Two-Factor-Authentication, are now free of charge and available for all customers. You can find them under company settings.
  • You can now move SIMs to LIVE status from Shipping status with the Workflow Automation app.
  • You can now download your invoices as an Excel file.

Introducing multiple delivery addresses

delivery option (1).png

Each account can now store multiple delivery addresses for receiving SIMs. This simplifies ordering SIMs through the Terminal and makes communication between you and your account manager much more efficient.

In the company settings, you can add delivery addresses for each of your branches or factories and specify the person who should receive the delivery. Now when you order SIMs, you can easily tell us which facility to deliver them to.

Improvements to automatic eSIM testing

Thanks to feedback, we have made significant improvements to the automatic eSIM testing app.

  • You can now run an eSIM test multiple times with the same eSIM card
  • You can filter eSIMs that have passed the eSIM test on the eSIM management page
  • We have improved the handling of failed tests and made the system more robust
  • We now show and bundle all the small steps that happen during eSIM transactions

Fixes and improvements

  • We are now sending a confirmation email when SIMs are ordered from 1oT Terminal
  • We have improved the rounding of the figures for costs and data consumption in the monthly email report
  • You can now see in the event log why the "test" status has expired. Either because the allowed data has been consumed or because the trial period has expired.
  • You can toggle between the current and new prices per data package if you have agreed with your account manager that prices will change and they take effect in the coming month(s).
  • Fixed an error where in some cases you could not edit the registration and VAT number fields of the second business unit

Securing your IoT devices with IMEI lock

IMEI lock.png

Today we're rolling out a highly requested IMEI lock feature as part of the Diagnostics app.

The importance of this function comes from the fact that users can lock the use of SIM to a specific device identified by its IMEI number (International Mobile Equipment Identity - a serial number assigned to the cellular module by the manufacturer).

This way, an unwanted person who's gained access to your device won't be able to misuse your SIM by plugging it into another device, as the SIM will be automatically put offline when we identify a new IMEI.

This is how it works:

  • Enabling/disabling the IMEI lock is done in the SIMs view of the Terminal after activating the Diagnostics app. Changes to the IMEI lock can be made via the API.
  • IMEI lock can be enabled for each SIM individually or as a bulk action on the "Edit SIM attributes" tab.
  • When the IMEI changes, the SIM is automatically set "offline" on the terminal and therefore cannot perform data sessions until the user allows it. A notification is sent to the customer that the IMEI lock has been triggered, containing information about the old and the new IMEI number.

Additional improvements to the Diagnostics app

  • IMEI numbers are automatically found and attached to SIM cards, reducing the manual work required to assign the number to each card.
  • You can automatically see the model of the cellular module based on the IMEI number. This makes it easier to find the device's cellular module and streamlines troubleshooting.
  • All functions of the Diagnostics app are now standardised for all telecom profiles, resolving the issue that the app worked differently for some profiles.

Introducing the IMEI number field to all customers

If you have not yet enabled the Diagnostics app, you can still add an IMEI number to any SIM card. This must be done manually, but you can do it in bulk or add it one by one. The IMEI field without the Diagnostics app works similarly to the SIM name, i.e. it can be used to identify a specific card.

Remember that although you've added IMEI numbers to the SIM cards, without the Diagnostics app you cannot lock IMEI with a specific SIM card.

Feature

Split invoices between different business units

Billing_visual.png

We've added an option to split monthly invoices among different business units. You can create business units for invoices on the "Company Settings" page.

SIMs can be assigned to each business unit by linking them via a data package selection. At the end of the month, we create separate invoices based on the data and SMS usage of the assigned SIMs.

Let's say your company operates in multiple countries and has different business entities in each of those countries, while managing all SIM cards on one platform - 1oT Terminal. Now, instead of receiving one invoice for one company and billing the other business units, you can receive separate invoices from 1oT for each division. This way, you have less manual work to do, and it is easier to see the costs of each business unit.

Fixes and improvements

  • Fixed a bug where you could skip selecting an automated action when creating date-based workflow automation;
  • We're now showing the cellular module model under "Device info" based on the IMEI code. This applies only to users who have subscribed to the Diagnostics app.

Introducing automated eSIM testing

eSIM Test App.png

As another step in our journey to simplify eSIM management, we're introducing an automatic eSIM test function. It ensures that your larger deployments with 1oT are successful and smooth.

The eSIM test is an important step of successful eSIM deployment and must be completed with one card and cellular module before performing transactions with a wider fleet.

The test is performed using a dedicated test profile and goes through all eSIM transactions, including downloading, enabling, deactivating, and deleting a profile on an eSIM.

To begin the test, you need to:

  • know the EID number of the particular card;
  • share the model of the cellular module
  • make sure the APN is configured correctly;
  • turn the eSIM to the "LIVE" status

When the automated process starts, the respective eSIM is set to download, activate and finally delete the test profile.

If the test fails, you and our technical team will receive an email with the error details, and a specialist will take care of the matter on 1oT's side.

If the test is successful, you will receive a confirmation email, and you are free to swap telecom profiles on your eSIMs!

eSIM Management Tool improvements

View demo

Today we're pleased to announce the second version of the eSIM management tool. It's probably the most important element for easy management of global IoT deployments.

When we started the redesign of eSIM management, we'd 3 main goals:

  1. give a better overview of eSIMs and telecom profiles;
  2. extend the functionality of the comparison tool to find the most suitable telecom profile faster;
  3. simplify the eSIM transaction flow and the number of successful deployments.

Let's look at the upgrades step by step.

eSIM table overview.png

Overview of eSIMs

We've improved the eSIM overview table to provide a better overview of your eSIM deployments. The overview cards are now even more informative. They serve as a quick filter to show only eSIMs with activated telecom profiles.

Previously, the table was fixed with columns and information. We've added a feature that allows you to change the preferences of the columns. So you can see exactly what you need for your work, similar to the SIM view table.

If you hover the number of telecom profiles in the overview table, you can see which profiles are available on the eSIM card.

comparison table.png

Comparison tool

The eSIM comparison table will help you find the most suitable telecom profile for your SIMs. We've made some improvements to help you find the right profile faster. First, for each telecom profile there's now a longer description of the benefits and the most suitable use case. Secondly, each profile now has soft aspects for comparison to better understand the shortcomings or opportunities of each telecom profile, in addition to comparing the price of data or SMS.

eSIM transaction.png

eSIM transaction

After finding a suitable telecom profile, it's time to complete the eSIM transaction. The main updates have been in the background, meaning we've introduced more guardrails for a successful transaction and are able to catch errors before they occur.

One new update is that you can move eSIMs with a new profile into an existing data package, rather than having to create a new one for each transaction.

Feature

Prepaid billing option on 1oT Terminal

Prepaid.png

We are pleased to announce that 1oT Terminal's billing logic has undergone a significant upgrade, and we now support prepayment.

This allows you to pay for connectivity services in advance, making it easier to stay connected. You can now transfer money to the Terminal account beforehand, and the correct amount will be automatically deducted from your balance when a billable event occurs.

The functionalities include:

  • Automating your payments by setting up a prepaid balance renewal via credit card or a PayPal account;
  • You can still pay by invoice, and the selected amount will be automatically added to the user’s Terminal account balance;
  • Setting a percentage threshold for alerts so you are notified whenever the balance falls below the set limit.

Not only does this make it easier to keep a large number of SIM cards connected, but it's also protection against additional costs that can occur when IoT device malfunctions and consumes a large amount of data or sends thousands of SMS messages in a short period of time.

It is important to note that nothing changes in pricing with the introduction of a prepaid model. Unless you switch to the prepayment model from account settings, you will continue to receive a monthly bill for the services.

Feature

Introducing recurring workflows in 1oT Terminal

Recurring workflows.png

We have introduced a minor update to the Workflow Automation app, which received a significant upgrade a month ago.

You can now create recurring automations to run after a specified time interval. This is a great addition to date-based automation, where you can schedule actions for a future date and time. For example, now you can schedule a reset of SIM after each day, week, or month.

Updates to the Intelligent Connectivity app

Any issues the Intelligent Connectivity app finds will show up on the dashboard when you log in.

We have also made some improvements to the built-in issue detection system:

  • When 1oT Terminal detects that SIM frequently jumps between different networks, we now specify which networks are involved
  • Improved the logic of the underconsumption rules to avoid false detections
